چکیده

As measured by the number of tapeworm eggs per gram of feces, pyrantel tartrate, fed on a daily basis (Strongid C), was more effective in eliminating tapeworms than was 33 pyrantel pamoate (Strongid) administered at 8-week intervals.a Horses treated with pyrantel tartrate had an egg count of zero tapeworms by 4 weeks following the initiation of treatment. Horses treated with 33 pyrantel pamoate continued to pass tapeworm eggs for 10 weeks following the initiation of treatment. r 1998 AAEP.

The effects of pyrantel tartrate on Sarcocystis neurona merozoite viability.

Sarcocystis neurona is the etiologic agent of equine protozoal myeloencephalitis, a neurologic disease of horses. The present study was designed to test the hypothesis that pyrantel tartrate can kill S. neurona merozoites growing in equine dermal cell culture. Sarcocystis neurona merozoites were exposed to a range of concentrations of pyrantel tartrate or sodium tartrate ranging from 0.001 to 0...

Target animal safety and tolerance study of pyrantel pamoate paste (19.13% w/w pyrantel base) administered orally to horses.

Pyrantel pamoate paste (19.13% w/w pyrantel base) for the treatment of tapeworm, Anoplocephala spp was evaluated for target animal safety and tolerance in horses treated orally at 0, 1, 3, 5, and 10 times the clinical dose of 13.2 mg pyrantel base/kg body weight administered daily for six consecutive days. Parameters evaluated included clinical signs, food and water consumption, body weights, p...

Regulation of cholinomimetic action of pyrantel pamoate by calcium channels in Setaria cervi.

Nerve muscle preparation of Setaria cervi (Nematoda:Filarioidea) exhibits spontaneous rhythmical movements when suspended in isolated organ bath containing modified Ringer's solution. Pyrantel pamoate (50 ng/ml) when applied caused initial short lasting stimulation followed by irreversible paralysis. When suspended in calcium free bathing fluid the movements of n.m. preparation showed a gradual...

INTESTINAL AND LUNGWORM PARASITE CONTROL Intestinal parasites affecting donkeys are similar to those that affect horses. These include nematodes (large and small strongyles, ascarids, pinworms), bots, and Cestodes (tapeworms). Basic principles of parasite control are the same as for larger equines. Medications used with success in donkeys include fenbendazole, ivermectin, albendazole, and pyran...

Morantel (1,4,5,6-tetrahydro-1-methyl-2-[2-(3-methyl-2-thienyl)ethenyl pyrimidine) is a tetrahydro-pyrimidine anthelmintic, differing from the related analogue pyrantel by the presence of a methyl group on the thiophene ring. It is intended to treat roundworms and tapeworms. It is administered in lactating and non lactating cattle as morantel tartrate as a slow-release bolus (11.8 g morantel...
